911 Media Arts Center will be moving to a new facility at 9th and Harrison in the south Lake
Union neighborhood later this year, located close to Cinema Seattle, CoCA, Consolidated
Works, and the Wright Exhibition Space. Among other improvements in the new space will be a
dedicated gallery for installation art and new media exhibitions - a first for the
organization. 911 currently seeks artists for exhibition in our new gallery space, scheduled
to open in Fall of 2004. Proposals are being reviewed for innovative new media
installations, single or multi-channel film or video works, and ancillary static visual art,
each show to last approximately six weeks. Gallery space is 18'11" by 15'9" (16' high walls)
with projection equipment available. A modest project budget and artist honorarium is also
offered. Proposals for alternate site-specific installations within the new facility are
also welcomed.
To apply, please submit the following:
Project description
Project budget
(identify your equipment needs, if applicable)
Brief artists' resume
Sample reel or project documentation (MiniDV, VHS or DVD), or up to 10 slides.
Supporting materials (statement, URL, press clippings, etc)
Self addressed stamped envelope for return of materials.
Please send submissions to: Exhibitions Curator, 911
Media Arts Center, 117 Yale Avenue N., Seattle WA 98109. You should expect to receive a
response concerning your proposal within one month of submission. For further information or
to tour the new gallery space and facility, please email Brad Thompson
(brad@911media.org).
This is an ongoing opportunity; proposals are sought for exhibitions through the 2005
calendar year.
